02 — Who we are

We are
District House Radio

District House Radio was started by Leo Maguigad, a DC native, and is run with his cousin August Keohan. Between the two of us we pick every mix that goes out, so if the taste is off, it is our fault.

We play the best house we can find and we are not fussy about where it came from. Most of it was made somewhere else. That is usually how a scene starts: a city takes a sound that is not its own and makes it its own anyway. The UK has something you can build a weekend around. DC has a few good rooms and, we are betting, a lot more people who would show up for this than the club calendar suggests.

House came off Black American dance floors long before it went anywhere else, and we would rather say so than act like it appeared out of nowhere. What we can do is play it here properly and put on the people making it now. Most of the artists in these crates are early enough that one play still counts for something. Send us a mix. Let us put you on.
